Two Firms Compete in Jordan’s Feed Barley Tender

HAMBURG_Two international trading companies have submitted offers in Jordan’s tender to purchase up to 120,000 metric tons of animal feed barley, traders said on Wednesday, with results expected later in the day.

Jordan’s state grains buyer is seeking supplies through an international tender as part of its regular procurement program to secure feed barley imports.

According to traders, the participating companies are believed to be Solaris and Bunge. The same two firms were also the only participants in Jordan’s separate international tender for 120,000 metric tons of wheat held on Tuesday.

No purchase had been reported by Wednesday afternoon, and traders said the outcome of the barley tender was expected later in the day.

The tender seeks barley shipments in consignments of between 50,000 and 60,000 metric tons. Deliveries are requested across three potential shipment windows: Sept. 16-30, Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31.

Jordan is a regular importer of wheat and feed barley through international tenders as domestic production is insufficient to meet demand. The country’s state grains buyer frequently issues tenders with flexible shipment schedules to maintain grain supplies and support the livestock sector.

Traders said the latest procurement process remained ongoing, with no indication yet of whether any offers would be accepted.
